San
Antonio, TX – Joseph Krist III, 41, was arrested yesterday afternoon by
the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force near Garner State Park in Concan, TX
without incident. Krist was wanted by the United States Marshals Service on
an arrest warrant issued by the U.S. District Court in San Antonio, where it
is alleged that he violated the conditions of his supervised release.
Task force officers received information that Krist along with his
girlfriend, Rebecca Brown, 45, were residing in a cabin located near Garner
State Park. When task force officers approached the cabin, Krist opened the
door and quickly attempted to close it. Task force officers forced entry
into the cabin where they found Krist holding a .40 caliber gun. Krist was
ordered by task force officers to drop the gun, in which he complied. Krist
and Brown were immediately arrested and taken into custody. While in the
cabin, task force officers recovered the gun, and found a nylon bag
containing over $4000 in cash and a hooded sweatshirt. Task force officers
later learned that the hooded sweatshirt matched the description of one used
in a bank robbery that took place in Corpus Christi on Sunday. The Federal
Bureau of Investigations is currently investigating Krist as a potential
suspect in Sunday’s bank robbery. Task force officers also learned that
Brown had an outstanding warrant for allegedly violating the conditions of
her probation that was set by the 198th Judicial District in Kerrville, TX.
Krist and Brown are currently being held in the Uvalde County Jail without
bond.
Joseph Krist III was charged and arrested for bank robbery on October 13,
2004. On August 19, 2005, Krist was sentenced to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons
where he served a term of 37 months. After his release from prison, Krist
was placed on a term of supervised release. It is alleged that Krist
violated the conditions of his supervised release by submitting a positive
urine specimen which tested for use of methamphetamine.
