Austin,
TX – Brandon Dominic Showers, 25, from Clinton Township, Michigan was
arrested at 2:30 p.m. without incident by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force
in the 5600 block of Cameron Road near downtown Austin. Showers was sought
on felony warrants from the St. Clair Shores Police Department and the
Clinton Township Police Department. Both communities are located in
northeastern suburban Detroit. It is alleged by criminal complaint that
Showers last month was charged as a suspect in two Detroit area Cash-n-Go
robberies where Showers is alleged to have used a firearm in both crimes.
Based upon information developed by the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team,
they determined Showers fled the area shortly after the November robberies
and within days arrived into Austin. Showers does has family ties to Austin
and investigators believe he was fleeing in an effort to get away from
pursuing authorities.
Task force officers established surveillance on several family members this
morning resulting in officers identifying Showers as he entered a vehicle
near a Cameron Road business. Showers was immediately surrounded and taken
into custody. A weapon concealed on Showers was recovered, and Showers was
remanded to the custody of the Travis County Sheriff pending his extradition
to Macomb County, Michigan.
Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas
states, “We are grateful to remove another dangerous fugitive from the
streets of Austin and am further thankful that no one was hurt in the
process.”
