Albuquerque, NM – On November 12, 2012, New Mexico State Police  (NMSP) were called to a Homicide investigation in Bernardo, NM. NMSP identified the victim as Adrian Burns. State Police developed information identifying two murder suspects, brothers, Joe Lawrence Gallegos and Andrew “Smiley” Gallegos. The Gallegos brothers have been identified by Law Enforcement Officers as Eastside Locos gang members. New Mexico State Police obtained arrest warrants for the Gallegos brothers charging them with an open count of Murder, Kidnapping, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, Tampering with Evidence, and Arson.

November 20, 2012, New Mexico State Police and United States Marshals developed leads that the Gallegos brothers were in Albuquerque in the area of Central Ave and Broadway. United States Marshals Service, South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) task force, comprised of Deputy Marshals, New Mexico State Police, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, and New Mexico Department of Corrections, saturated the area until locating the fugitives vehicle in a Hotel parking lot on Central Ave Ne and High St NE. The team of Law Enforcement Officers quickly moved in to lock down the hotel and identified the room the fugitives were held up in. The violent fugitive task force surrounded the room and called the murder suspects out of the room. Both Gallegos brothers surrendered to law enforcement officers without a struggle and were turned over to the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau. Special Agents from the NMSP Bureau wrote a search warrant for the hotel room and continue their investigation throughout the night. The Gallegos brothers were booked into custody without further incident.
