Sex Offender Arrested by U.S. Marshals and Charged with Four Counts of Failure to Register

WASHINGTON – Anthony Greene, a sex offender registered in Washington, D.C. was arrested Tuesday on 4 counts of failure to register as a sex offender, announced U.S. Marshal Michael Hughes, U.S. Marshal for Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

In August 1990, Greene was convicted of carnal knowledge against a child 12-16 years old in DC Superior Court.

On April 15, 2003, upon being released from incarceration, Greene initially registered with the DC Sex Offender Registry and was designated as a Class “B” offender, required to register annually for 10 years.

In May 2012, members of the U.S. Marshals Service, DC Superior Court Sex Offender Investigations Section initiated an investigation into Greene under the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006. During the investigation, it was learned that Greene was not living at the address listed with the DC Sex Offender Registry. Information gathered also indicated that Greene was providing false employment information, to include fraudulent pay stubs, for a company that did not exist.

On Aug. 1, 2012, members of DC Superior Court Sex Offender Investigations Section executed search warrants and seized 32 grams of crack cocaine from Greene’s residence for which he was subsequently arrested.

On Nov. 20, 2012 members of DC Superior Court Sex Offender Investigations Section arrested and charged Greene with 4 counts of failure to register as a sex offender, in violation of DC Code 22 Section 4014, 4015.

Other criminal investigations have been initiated, and are pending, due to the evidence collected in the execution of the search warrants.
