San
Antonio, TX – Jimmy Ray Owen, aka “Oklahoma”, 32, was arrested early
yesterday evening by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in San Antonio
without incident. An arrest warrant was sought by the Comal County Sheriff’s
Office, where it is alleged that Owen committed aggravated assault against a
public servant.
Yesterday afternoon, the Comal County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Lone
Star Fugitive Task Force to assist in the search for Owen after he escaped
custody from a San Antonio hospital. Task force officers determined that
Owen was hiding out with an associate in a hotel room located in the 900
block of Northeast Loop 410. Task force officers entered the hotel room and
Owen was immediately arrested.
On Sunday evening, a Bulverde Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic
stop on a 1989 Toyota pickup truck. It was determined that the pickup truck
was stolen from Jourdanton, TX. It is alleged that the driver of the pickup
truck refused to stop and attempted to elude the officer through a
residential neighborhood. The Comal County Sheriff’s Office joined the chase
and attempted to assist in stopping the pickup truck. The driver of the
pickup truck rammed a Bulverde Police Department patrol car, subsequently
disabling it. The chase continued and the driver of the pickup truck rammed
a Comal County Sheriff’s Office patrol truck. The driver of the pickup truck
lost control and crashed into a civilian vehicle that was occupied by two
passengers. At the point of impact, the driver of the pickup truck was
ejected and later identified as Jimmy Ray Owen. There were two other
passengers in the pickup truck with Owen, whom were later released at the
scene. Officers discovered cocaine and a Tec-9 semi-automatic handgun in the
pickup truck. One of the passengers of the civilian vehicle was transported
to the hospital for complaints of injuries to her back, but she is expected
to recover. Owen complained of injuries and was transported to a hospital
near Stone Oak Parkway. While being treated for his injuries, Owen escaped
custody from the hospital.
Owen was a fugitive until he was arrested and taken into custody yesterday
evening. Owen is currently being treated for his injuries at a San Antonio
hospital and under the careful watch of law enforcement officers. Owen is an
active member of the Aryan Brotherhood gang.
Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas,
states, “It’s only by the grace of God that no one was seriously injured due
to this blatant disregard for human life. I am truly thankful and proud of
our brothers and sisters in law enforcement, who came together to quickly
take another bad guy off the streets.”
