**Update:  Melanie Freeman was Apprehended on October 10, 2012**

Albuquerque, NM - The United States Marshals Service in New Mexico added Melanie Freeman to the United States Marshals Service “New Mexico’s Most Wanted Program.” Freeman is wanted for failure to appear on charges of criminal Sexual penetration of a minor under 13, and assault on a peace officer.

In the criminal complaint it is alleged that Freeman had sexual intercourse with a 12 year old boy at a residence where she was attempting to hide from authorities who were attempting to arrest her on outstanding warrants. It is also alleged in the complaint that while being taken into custody for the warrants she assaulted a police officer.

Freeman has failed to appear for her court appearance and is currently a fugitive. Freeman is believed to be hiding in the Las Cruces, NM area but could also be in the Albuquerque area.
