Dayton, OH – The Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension
Strike Team (SOFAST) and Acting United States Marshal Patrick Sedoti for the
Southern District of Ohio announced today that Richard A. “Chicago” Western was
arrested this morning on N. Union Road in Englewood, Ohio.
On June 22, 2012, the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court issued an arrest
warrant for Western charging him with probation violation stemming from his
previous conviction for Robbery with physical harm in 2009.
SOFAST took up the case and began their investigation into his whereabouts. It
was learned that Western is alleged to be a member of the Dayton area Black
Gangster Disciples street gang and goes by the name “Chicago”.
On June 28, 2012 at about 0930 AM, the SOFAST team made contact with Western at
an address on N. Union Road in Englewood, Ohio and took him into custody without
incident.
The Riverside, Ohio Police Department requested Western be brought to their
offices and he subsequently confessed to a murder that occurred on Amston Court,
Riverside, Ohio on June 22, 2012. Western was later booked into the Montgomery
County jail charged with murder.
SOFAST, includes members from the U.S. Marshals, Dayton Police, Springfield
Police, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Clark County Sheriff's Office, Ohio
Adult Parole Authority, Greene County Prosecutors Office, Miami County Sheriff's
Office and Wright State University Police.
