Tallahassee, FL – The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional
Fugitive Task Force (FRFTF) today announced the arrest of 32 year old Tedrick
Miguel Childs of Havanna, Florida during a felony vehicle stop in Whispering
Pines West Subdivision located on Hwy 20 in Tallahassee, FL. Childs, who is a
documented Folk Nation Gang Member, was currently being sought by the Muscogee
County Sheriff’s Office in Columbus, GA as well as the Columbus Police
Department on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Cruelty to
Children, Criminal Damage to Property, Burglary, Terroristic Threats and Acts
and Arson. According to investigators in Georgia, Childs was involved in a
physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend and during the struggle stabbed the
ex-girlfriends’ male acquaintance multiple times. Childs is also alleged to have
attempted to run over his ex-girlfriend as well as her 2 year old sister with a
vehicle during the incident. Investigators then allege that Childs returned to
the couple’s home on Saint Mary’s Road in Columbus, GA where he burned their
trailer to the ground. Columbus detectives contacted the Tallahassee Police
Department yesterday after learning that Childs was from the Tallahassee, FL
area and that Childs had fled Columbus. Members of the TPD Career Criminal Unit
(CCU), along with members of the US Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task
Force, initiated a fugitive investigation in an effort to locate Childs.
Information relayed to FRFTF personnel indicated that Childs had made statements
about killing his ex-girlfriend and due to the above actions Childs was placed
at the top of the FRFTF’s most wanted list. At approximately 1:45pm today FRFTF
members saw Childs departing a family members home located in the 1800 block of
Rodrique Road inside the Whispering Pines West neighborhood. FRFTF personnel
surrounded the car in which Childs was a passenger at the intersection of Belk
and Craig Drive. Upon spotting law enforcement officers moving in, Childs bailed
out of the vehicle in an attempt to escape apprehension. FRFTF personnel engaged
Childs is a short foot pursuit and apprehended him without further incident.
Childs was transported to the Leon County Jail where he was booked in on his
outstanding Georgia charges and where he will await extradition back to Columbus
at a later date. Additional information about the U.S. Marshals Service can be found at http://www.usmarshals.gov. #### America’s Oldest Federal Law Enforcement Agency |
