Albuquerque, NM - On April 10, 2012 the United States Marshal Conrad E. Candelaria and Chief Deputy United States Marshal Michael Ferstl from the District of New Mexico hosted a meeting with the Regional Attaché for the Attorney General of Mexico. The meeting was held at the Pete V. Domenici U.S. Federal Court House in Albuquerque. The meeting was an opportunity for the two agencies to confirm their commitments to pursue fugitives that flee the countries with the hopes of evading apprehension. During the meeting representatives from both agencies discussed the importance of the ongoing cooperation between the United States Marshals Service and the Office of the Attorney General in Mexico.

United States Marshal Conrad E. Candelaria commented on the meeting by saying “with unyielding commitment, the Marshals Service for the District of New Mexico stands ready to assist in the legal process of extraditing those criminals that have attempted to abscond justice by fleeing into the country of Mexico; this commitment was reaffirmed by the D/NM and Mr. Salvador Cano, Regional Law Enforcement Attaché for Mexico's Office of the Attorney General”

The U.S. Marshals Service works with the international law enforcement community including the Regional Attaché to the Office of the Attorney General of Mexico in El Paso, TX to apprehend fugitives abroad as well as to seek foreign fugitives living or residing in the United States. In FY2011, the United States Marshals Service coordinated 894 extraditions and deportations throughout the international law enforcement community.
