| U.S. Marshals Participate in Metro Teen Court |
|
Albuquerque, NM – On August 13, 2011, Deputy
Marshals participated in Albuquerque’s Metro Teen Court Public Safety Day. Metro
Teen Court is an event that is held for first time teen offenders who go before
a jury of their peers and are sanctioned to do community service and serve as a
juror. Metro Teen Court’s mission is to discourage teens from making bad choices
in the future and to teach the youth to pay back the community for the bad
choices they had already made. The Metro Teen Court Public Safety Day was about
Officers interacting and mentoring the youth. The special event was held at Albuquerque’s Coronado Center and lasted 3 hours. The Public Safety Day brought together officers from over 21 different agencies. After the Metro Teen Court, public safety agencies were asked to compete in a favorite police car and favorite fire truck category. Gift certificates were handed out to the winning agencies.
