Austin, TX – Arthur Jeffrey Martinez, 23, of Midland, was arrested last night by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force without incident in the 500 block of E. Howard Lane in north Austin. Martinez was sought by Midland authorities after Martinez was identified as a shooter in a June 30th incident whereby Martinez was alleged to have discharged multiple rounds at a vehicle subsequent to a verbal altercation. Martinez discharged his weapon from within his vehicle towards the victim sending the vehicle out of control after the driver was hit. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The Midland based fugitive task force alerted the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in Austin yesterday afternoon that Martinez fled Midland and was likely in Austin based upon credible information received and relayed to the task force. Task force officers canvassed probable locations in an attempt to locate a vehicle Martinez was known to be traveling in. Officers established surveillance at trailer park community after the vehicle was located. Martinez was subsequently identified and apprehended by officers. Martinez was unarmed and no weapon was recovered at the scene.

Martinez was remanded to the Travis County Detention Center pending his return to Midland County to face one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
