| Operation Sparrow Hawk |

Las Cruces, NM - On June 9th the United
States Marshals Service concluded Operation Sparrow Hawk. This operation covered
5 counties in Southeast New Mexico involving the combined efforts of the Hobbs
Police Department, State of New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole, Lee County
Sheriff’s Office, New Mexico State Police, Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, Region
Five Narcotics Task Force, Clovis Police Department, Roosevelt County Sheriff’s
Office, Artesia Police Department, Pecos Valley Drug Task Force, Lincoln County
Sheriff’s Office, Chavez County Metro Narcotics, Roswell Police Department,
Chaves County Sheriff’s Office, Carlsbad Police Department, the Bureau of Indian
Affairs, Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The three day operation started June 7, and resulted in the arrest of 34 state and federal fugitives with charges including: Murder, Rape, Shooting at a Dwelling, Burglary, Trafficking Meth, Strong Armed Robbery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Great Bodily harm with a vehicle. Marshal Conrad Candelaria stated “Due to the combined efforts of many law enforcement officials, from state, local, county and federal agencies, over thirty dangerous fugitives were tracked, identified and apprehended. Many communities within New Mexico will be safer because these fugitives will no longer be able to terrorize with their criminal behavior and each will now face justice that is deserved and is long overdue.” Additional information about the U.S. Marshals can be found at http://www.usmarshals.gov. #### |
