Las Cruces, NM - Hector Rolando Rueda was
arrested on May 23, 2011 in Las Cruces for an outstanding warrant on an
indictment charging him with 2 counts of Criminal Sexual Penetration of a minor
under 13 in the First Degree and 4 counts of Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor
under 13 in the Third Degree.
Rueda allegedly sexually assaulted the victim on multiple occasions that spanned
over a nine year period. The first occurrence took place when the victim was 6
years old. Investigators with the Dona Ana Sheriff’s Office were unable to
locate Rueda for an interview and subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued and
the help of the United States Marshals Service was requested. Rueda has been on
the run avoiding law enforcement since March of this year. On May 23, 2011 Rueda
Marshal Service Deputies and Investigators from the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s
office developed information that lead them to a location in Las Cruces where
Rueda was seen. Rueda was arrested and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention
Center pending his court appearance. U.S. Marshal for the District of New Mexico
Conrad Candelaria said "The New Mexico Most Wanted program is in place for this
very reason and that is for all law enforcement agencies to work together to
remove serious criminals from our communities because our children should not
have to live in fear"
