Cleveland, OH – Wanted fugitive Thomas Allen, age 38, was arrested last evening at approximately 9:50 p.m. in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Allen, who is no stranger to the justice system, was wanted by the U.S. Marshals, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office on charges of 2 counts attempted murder, 2 counts aggravated burglary, 2 counts felonious assault and tampering with evidence. The circumstances behind these charges are that on January 15, 2011 it is alleged that Allen entered into an altercation when he saw an unidentified naked male through a window in the residence of his part-time girlfriend. Allen, in a fit of rage, forced entry into the residence and began assaulting the male. The incident ultimately ended when Allen grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed the victim before fleeing the house.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office solicited the services of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force to assist in locating and apprehending Allen. The Task Force immediately began scouring the Painesville area, which was a local hot spot for Allen, and it was quickly determined that Allen had fled the state of Ohio. Sources interviewed and searches conducted produced information that led the Task Force to believe that Allen may have gone to hide in either Pennsylvania or West Virginia.

As the investigation continued, the Task Force tracked Allen to the Eldorado Motel located at 2618 New Butler Road in New Castle. Deputy Marshals from Ohio, the U.S. Marshals Greater Pittsburgh Fugitive Task Force and the Shenango Township Police Department descended upon the motel and were able to obtain information indicating that an associate had rented a room for Allen in an effort to conceal his identity and whereabouts. The Task Force set up a perimeter around the motel and attempted to gain entrance into one of its rooms. After announcing their presence, Allen came to the door and self surrendered. Allen was arrested without incident and transported to the Lawrence County Jail and booked in as a fugitive from justice.

Captain Ron Walters of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office stated, “This case demonstrates the far reaching abilities of cooperative efforts between local, state and federal law enforcement. I would personally like to thank Marshal Elliott and the U.S. Marshals Task Force for their assistance with this fugitive investigation.”
