Brian W. Koerbel – Deputy U.S. Marshal Northern District of Ohio (216) 276-1033 |
| Lake County Slasher Surrenders to Task Force in Pennsylvania Motel |
|
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office solicited the services of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force to assist in locating and apprehending Allen. The Task Force immediately began scouring the Painesville area, which was a local hot spot for Allen, and it was quickly determined that Allen had fled the state of Ohio. Sources interviewed and searches conducted produced information that led the Task Force to believe that Allen may have gone to hide in either Pennsylvania or West Virginia. As the investigation continued, the Task Force tracked Allen to the Eldorado Motel located at 2618 New Butler Road in New Castle. Deputy Marshals from Ohio, the U.S. Marshals Greater Pittsburgh Fugitive Task Force and the Shenango Township Police Department descended upon the motel and were able to obtain information indicating that an associate had rented a room for Allen in an effort to conceal his identity and whereabouts. The Task Force set up a perimeter around the motel and attempted to gain entrance into one of its rooms. After announcing their presence, Allen came to the door and self surrendered. Allen was arrested without incident and transported to the Lawrence County Jail and booked in as a fugitive from justice.
Captain Ron Walters of the Lake County Sheriff’s
Office stated, “This case demonstrates the far reaching abilities of cooperative
efforts between local, state and federal law enforcement. I would personally
like to thank Marshal Elliott and the U.S. Marshals Task Force for their
assistance with this fugitive investigation.” Additional information about the U.S. Marshals can be found at http://www.usmarshals.gov. #### |
