13 Years on the Run Ends in Gallup, New Mexico

Gallup, N.M, – On February 11, 2011, convicted sex offender George SHOOGUKUWRKK, was arrested by New Mexico State Police, in Gallup, NM based on information provided by the United States Marshal Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) Task Force.

On January 18, 2011, the SWIFT task force received a lead from Deputies in Alaska, requesting assistance in locating and apprehending convicted sex offender George SHOOGUKUWRKK. SHOOGUKUWRKK was wanted by the Alaska State Troopers for a Probation Violation, based on the underline sex conviction.  On July 3, 1996, SHOOGUKUWRKK was convicted of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the State of Alaska. SHOOGUKUWRKK was required to register as a sex offender, SHOOGUKUWRKK only registered once in 1997 and is currently in violation of his sex offender registry.  A warrant was issued for SHOOGUKUWRKK on August 25, 1998; SHOOGUKUWRKK has been a fugitive for approximately 13 years.

On February 8, 2011, SWIFT task force members went to the listed addresses provided in the lead; both addresses were business addresses located off of HWY 66, in Gallup, NM.  SWIFT task force members interviewed the business owners and learned that the fugitive was seen at the Islamic center in Gallup, NM, five 5 days ago.  The owners stated that SHOOGUKUWRKK was a transient and living on the streets.  Task force members left their contact information with the owners in the event that they came in contact with the fugitive.

On February 11, 2011, a SWIFT task force member received information stating that the fugitive was currently at the Islamic center in Gallup, NM.  New Mexico State Police were contacted and informed of the fugitives’ location, State Police quickly responded and SHOOGUKUWRKK was arrested and taken into custody. This is another example that no matter where you run and hide we will find you, the long-arm of the law knows no boundaries” U.S. Marshal for the District of New Mexico, Conrad Candelaria said.

SHOOGUKUWRKK is being a held on a No Bond warrant and awaiting extradition back to Alaska.
