Armed Fugitive Wanted on 5 Felony Warrants Arrested at Pletz Park on San Antonio’s East Side

LSFTF LogoSan Antonio, TX – The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force sponsored by the United States Marshals Service along with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) arrested 23 year old Davone Truitt today at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Truitt has 5 active felony warrants to include Aggravated Assault on a Child and Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer. It is believed Truitt has been hiding in Michigan in an attempt to avoid capture.

On Friday, the SAPD’s San Antonio Regional Intelligence Center (SARIC) developed information Truitt would possibly be filming a RAP music video in Pletz Park. SARIC then contacted the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) for assistance.

Members of the LSFTF (that today included the SAPD, Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office, SAISD PD, TDCJ-OIG, Texas Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Marshals) took up strategic positions surrounding the Park and began a stakeout to see if Truitt would show. After friends and associates of Truitt’s along with Truitt arrived at the Park Pavilion, and began to set up the cameras for filming, the command was given to close in. Truitt was caught totally by surprise and didn’t have time to grab the loaded .40 caliber tucked into his waistband nor was he able to discard the baggies of suspected marijuana in his pockets.

Robert R. Almonte, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Texas said, “This fugitive has fled from law enforcement in the past and we weren’t going to take any chances. He has shown his disregard for human life by not only ramming police cars but also by injuring a child. I want to thank the men and women of the LSFTF for giving up their Saturday to take a very dangerous suspect off of the streets and out of our communities”.
