Las Cruces, NM – Jardin de los Ninos a
community outreach program in the Las Cruces area that focuses on homeless
and near-homeless children and their families was supported by the United
States Marshals Service. Over the past two weeks, United States Marshals
Service employees assigned to the Las Cruces office collected gifts for
Jardin de los Ninos. Deputy Marshals ensured that at least fifty children
from the Las Cruces area will be able to open up Christmas gifts.
Deputy Marshal Yvette Soto felt strongly about this program and took up the
cause in coordinating this event for the Marshals Service. The collection of
gifts and the donations made were presented to Jardin de los Ninos last
week. The program was a huge success for the Deputy Marshals, administrative
employees and the Court Security Officers as they all joined in to make the
holiday special for over 50 children. “Thanks to the generosity of our many
U.S. Marshals Service employees the goal to provide gifts exceeded the
original number. Deputy Soto had to request additional names for children
from Jardin de los Ninos because so many employees made donations” said
United States Marshal Conrad Candelaria.
