Eureka, CA – U. S. Marshal Federico Rocha of the Northern District of California announced the arrest of Jason R. Brown. On July 14, Brown, 28, was arrested in the 100 block of Ogle Street in Rio Dell. Brown was wanted on attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon charges in Del Norte County for the December 30, 2008 beating of James Craig at a temporary homeless shelter located at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds.

On July 14, a Deputy U.S. Marshal, state parole agent and a Humboldt County Sheriff Detective went to several locations searching for Brown. During their search they drove pass the Ogle Street address and observed Brown in an open garage. Brown resisted arrest by attempting to flee and then struggling with the arresting officers. Brown was eventually taken into custody and transported to the Humboldt County Jail. Investigators believe Brown has been residing in Humboldt County since the December 2008 incident.

The U.S. Marshals Service have developed close working relationships with other law enforcement agencies on fugitive matters, and it has a history of providing assistance, expertise and training to agencies on the federal, state, local and international levels.
