U.S. Marshals Arrest Homicide Fugitives from Massachusetts

San Juan, Puerto Rico – Eric Timberman, the United States Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico, would like to announce the arrest of Waldemar Quinones, aka “el gordo”, and his girlfriend Kimberly Grandmason, by the United States Marshals led Puerto Rico Fugitive Task Force (PRFTF), the Worchester, Massachusetts Police Department and the Puerto Rico Police Department this afternoon in Penuelas, Puerto Rico.

Quinones was wanted by the Worcester, Massachusetts Police Department for a homicide that occurred on April 6th, in Worchester. Grandmason was also wanted for assisting Quinones in his flight to Puerto Rico in order to avoid prosecution.

The Worchester Police Department requested assistance from the United States Marshals Service in Massachusetts in locating the fugitive pair. Information was developed that Quinones fled to Puerto Rico along with Grandmason and the Puerto Rico Fugitive Task Force was brought into the investigation.

Further investigation revealed that the couple was residing at a residence in Barrio Quebrada del Agua in Peñuelas. This afternoon personnel from the PRFTF, The Worchester PD, and the PRPD established surveillance in the area. At approximately 3:20pm, Quinones was observed at this location. As law enforcement personnel prepared to enter the residence, Quinones was arrested as he attempted to escape through the back door without incident. Grandmason was subsequently arrested inside the residence.

Both fugitives were transported to the Puerto Rico Police Department where they await extradition to Massachusetts though state procedures.

“Once again the arrest of these violent fugitives demonstrates the effectiveness of the partnership between the United States Marshals Service and local law enforcement entities,“ stated Eric Timberman, United States Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico.

The US Marshals led Puerto Rico Fugitive Task Force is the fugitive arm of the US Marshals in Puerto Rico. In the last calendar year alone, the PRFTF arrested more than 1,250 violent fugitives.
