Del Rio, Texas – The United States Marshals led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Manuel Guardiola Tuesday in Eagle Pass, Texas. Guardiola escaped from custody on October 20, 2009 while incarcerated at the Kinney County Detention Center in Brackettville, Texas.

Guardiola was in custody serving a sentence of 420 months for a narcotics conviction. After the escape Guardiola appears to have taken up residence in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico which is located immediately across the Rio Grande River from Eagle Pass, Texas. On Tuesday, Guardiola was found to be living in the Republic of Mexico in violation of their immigration laws and was subsequently expelled. Upon Guardiola’s expulsion from the Republic of Mexico and reentry into the United States he was arrested by members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

It would be remiss to not thank both the men and women of the United States Marshals Service and their partners on both sides of the border for their constant diligence in making us all safe. The capture of Manuel Guardiola in Mexico is yet another affirmation of their commitment.
