Cherokee County Georgia Fugitive Arrested in Smith County Texas

JRTFTF LogoEzekiel Ochoa was arrested by officers of the Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force from the Smith County DA’s Office the Texas Rangers and the U.S. Marshals Service. Ochoa was wanted out of Cherokee County Georgia on a warrant for rape. The warrant was issued on June 29th in Cherokee County Georgia.

Information was developed by the U.S. Marshals South East Regional Task Force based in Atlanta that Ochoa had fled to East Texas and may have been hiding in the Tyler Area. The Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force quickly developed leads on Ochoa’s location and Ochoa was soon arrested at a residence in Flint Texas this afternoon. Ochoa was discovered hiding in a closet. Ochoa was arrested without incident and is currently incarcerated in the Smith county jail awaiting extradition back to the state of Georgia.

It is alleged that on June 29 of 2009 Ochoa raped his sixteen year old victim at a party after first providing them liquor, marijuana and drugging them with Xanax.

The Joint East Texas Fugitive Apprehension Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from 56 law enforcement agencies in the East Texas area. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest federal, state, and local fugitives, mainly those with violent criminal histories to include sex offenders.
