U.S. Marshals, Lexington County Apprehend Texas Man Wanted Since 1991

COLUMBIA, SC- Edward Woods was arrested without incident on Saturday, April 4. Woods, also known as Edward Aiken, was the subject of a 1991 Williamson County (TX) warrant charging him with Failure to Appear on an original charge of Indecency with a Child. He had been on the run for 18 years. Woods, 42, was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting extradition proceedings. The Marshals fugitive task force, Operation Intercept, received information from Texas last week that Woods was possibly living off of Biddle Road in Lexington. Lexington County Investigators and Deputy Marshals in Columbia began surveillance shortly after receiving the information and were able to apprehend Woods.

Established in 1789, the United States Marshals Service is the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency. Last year, Marshals Service task forces like South Carolina's Operation Intercept apprehended over 109,000 felony fugitives nationwide.
