PENSACOLA COUNTY, FL - A man who was a
victim of an aggravated battery last week in Louisiana died Wednesday
afternoon after being taken off life support. The U.S. Marshals Florida
Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested David Erin Nelson last week at his
home in Crestview, FL who was accused of aggravated battery after he
sucker-punched a man for no apparent reason knocking him out, losing
consciousness never to wake up again. According to police reports,
Nelson was involved in a physical altercation outside of a Lake Charles
night club a week ago in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. Witnesses said
that the 25 year old was thrown out of the club and was outside arguing
with security when an unidentified man walked up to the club and Nelson
punched him one time knocking him unconscious. Reports also stated that
the victim’s head also hit the ground. The victim was rushed to a local
hospital with life threatening injuries at the time. Nelson was taken
into custody by the Task Force at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday while he was
standing in the street outside of his home in Crestview. Nelson was
transported to the Okaloosa County Jail and is awaiting extradition to
Louisiana. Okaloosa Deputies served the 2nd Degree Murder warrant on
Nelson yesterday at the Okaloosa County Jail where he is awaiting
extradition to Louisiana. |
