A
fugitive wanted by the Drug Enforcement Administration was arrested by the
U.S. Marshals Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and SCMPD Precinct 5 officers on March 30, 2009, in Savannah, Georgia. Antonio Woodley was being sought on a federal warrant Conspiracy to sell Cocaine and Sale of Cocaine by the Drug Enforcement Administration issued in November 2008. The case was referred to the Marshals Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest him. A joint investigation was conducted by both the Marshals Task Force and the DEA to locate Woodley. Woodley has been in hiding since November 2008. Woodley was thought to still be in the Savannah area. On March 28, 2009, information generated by the DEA and Marshals Task Force investigation lead to an address in Savannah. Marshals Task Force investigators and SCMPD Precinct 5 officers went to Savannah, Georgia and found Woodley hiding in the frame of a sofa bed in a bedroom in the residence. Woodley was arrested without incident. Woodley is one of three outstanding fugitives form the DEA roundup in November 2008. One of the other fugitives Herbert Roberts was arrested two weeks ago by the Marshals Fugitive Task Force. There is one remaining fugitive at large by the name of Donald Fennell. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Savannah, Georgia. Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately 36, 000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by the Marshals Service than all other federal agencies combined. The Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force has three offices: Atlanta, Macon, and Savannah. The task force covers the whole state of Georgia. The Savannah Offices of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of investigators from the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department, the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department and the United States Marshals Service. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest fugitives charged with violent crimes, drug crimes, sex offenders, and other felonies. Last year, U.S. Marshals Task Forces arrested more than 58,600 state and local fugitives on felony charges. Additional information about the U.S. Marshals can be found at http://www.usmarshals.gov. |
