Fugitive Couple From Massachusetts Arrested by U.S. Marshals - NH Joint Fugitive Task Force
Nashua, NH – John Chaisson, 34, and Sally Bernier, 40 were arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals – NH Joint Fugitive Task Force including members from the Hillsborough & Strafford County (NH) Sheriff’s Offices, with the assistance of the Nashua, NH Police Department. Chaisson was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Worcester, MA; including Armed Robbery, and Assault. Bernier was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants for being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, as well as Narcotic Distribution and Possession.

Chaisson and Bernier have been hiding from the law since Chaisson was alleged to have committed
an armed robbery of a liquor store in Worcester, MA on Christmas Eve, 2008. On January 30, 2009, the
U.S. Marshals – New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force was requested to assist in locating Chaisson
and Bernier by Probation Officers from the State of Massachusetts.

Today, the combined investigative efforts of all the participating agencies led investigators to a residence in the 100 block of Pine Street in Nashua, NH. It was at this location that Chaisson and Bernier
were arrested without incident.

Thinking they were out of reach, Chaisson and Bernier fled to New Hampshire in an effort to avoid
arrest by law enforcement in Massachusetts. “The lines of communication between our law enforcement
partners on both sides of the New Hampshire border are always open” said U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier.
“The New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force strives to make locating and arresting fugitives in any state a seamless operation” said Marshal Monier.

Chaisson and Bernier were booked at the Nashua (NH) Police Department and are currently being
held before their initial court appearances.

Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately
34,000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by Marshals than all other federal agencies
combined.

The New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from
agencies throughout NH. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest violent fugitives. Last year, U.S. Marshals task forces arrested more than 27,000 state and local fugitives on felony charges.
