San Antonio - The United States Marshals Service sponsored Lone Star
Fugitive Task Farce (LSFTF) along with many other agencies conducted a
two-day street operation developing leads and arresting sex offenders in
Bexar County on October 19th and 20th.
Over two dozen sex offenders have been
arrested since Sunday morning when the first teams hit the streets. These
multi-agency teams combed Bexar County in search of felony sex offenders and
their hard work paid off in not only arrests, but on new leads to research.
One result of this effort is an arrest that
took place in Dallas. U.S. Marshals in Dallas acted on a
lead generated in San Antonio yesterday and it culminated in the arrest of
40 year old Cicilio
Espinoza today. In 1989 an arrest warrant was issued for Espinoza for the
felony offense of
Indecency With Child and it has gone unexecuted for 19 years. That is until
today!
The United States Marshal for the Western
District of Texas LaFayette Collins said "Tracking
down sex offenders takes an increased effort. Due to the nature of their
crimes, they lose contact with friends as well as family members. We are
sending a message to those who commit these despicable acts that law
enforcement never quits hunting for you and you will be found. " Marshal
Collins further stated ''If just one Sex Offender is arrested, it is
considered a success. When over two dozen are arrested if has a profound
effect on the safety of our children and our community."
