The SAPD ROP Unit and the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force Arrests 18 Year Old Homicide Suspect Vance Keenan

LSFTF LogoSan Antonio, TX - The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) along with the Repeat Offender Program (ROP Unit) of the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) arrested 18 year old Vance Keenan who is accused of killing another individual with an Assault Rifle.

After responding to a shooting scene in which another individual was killed back on August 20th, 2008, San Antonio Homicide Detectives charged Vance Keenan with the shooting. When the warrant was issued, Keenan was nowhere to be found. At this point the LSFTF was called to assist in the Fugitive Investigation. LSFTF members spent countless hours interviewing individuals known to be associated with Keenan to no avail. On Tuesday, October 14, 2008, information was released to the San Antonio media requesting the public’s assistance. Tips quickly came in pointing to a location near Loop 1604 and Potranco. SAPD ROP Detectives, SWAT Officers and LSFTF members made a plan to surround the residence. When entry was made, Keenan was already gone. More tips came in today and additional interviews were conducted that now pointed to an apartment complex near Blanco and West Ave. ROP Detectives and LSFTF members set up surveillance and ultimately spotted Keenan in a vehicle with many passengers. A traffic stop was initiated and Keenan and at least one other individual were arrested.

The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said “When an individual is charged with a violent and deadly crime and then goes on to make statements to the effect that he will perpetuate violence on those law officers who seek to arrest him to answer for his charges, we take them at their word and take it up a notch. Keenan sealed his own fate to be hunted relentlessly when this bold statement got back to us. If it bears out that anyone knowingly assisted Keenan in his flight, they will be charged also.”
