On October 9, 2008, the 9th Annual Crime
Stoppers of the Year Breakfast was held in Cincinnati, Ohio. The 2008 Crime
Stoppers Media Award was awarded to WCPO reporter Shannon Kettler.
Shannon Kettler’s passion for the well-being
of the Cincinnati community is evident in all she does, but especially in
providing the general public with significant and important law enforcement
updates on wanted fugitives.
Ms. Kettler’s tireless efforts, professionalism, and first-rate reporting
via “U.S. Marshals Most Wanted” segment have been instrumental in the
apprehending of dozens of fugitives in the greater Cincinnati region. Her
portrayal of the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) as
a formative fugitive task force has had a profound affect on Crime Stoppers
relationship with the general public further enhancing our abilities to
bring fugitives to justice.
She tells the story in the straight-forward, ubiquitous way and relays to
the public the necessary information to gain their assistance in the capture
of dangerous criminals.
WCPO-TV and Ms. Kettler can be justifiably proud of her exceptional
reporting efforts as she helped to make the community a much safer place to
work and live. She has rightfully earned the respect and admiration of the
local, state and federal law enforcement.
The U.S. Marshals Service in the Southern District of Ohio was honored to
nominate Ms. Kettler for this award. U.S. Marshal James Wahlrab and members
of the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team attended the
breakfast with Ms. Kettler in support of her efforts and recognition.
