U.S. Marshals Arrest Former Federal Agent who was a fugitive since 1994

El Paso, TX -  United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, LaFayette Collins announced the capture of Jose Trinida Carrillo. The former Federal law enforcement agent was captured by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, El Paso Division. He fled to Mexico after he was convicted of Conspiracy to Import Marijuana and Bribery of Public Official in 1994. The El Paso Police Department was instrumental in isolating the fugitive's location.

In July of 1993, Carrillo was arrested by federal agents. Early in 1994 Carrillo was convicted of conspiracy to import marijuana, aiding and abetting to import marijuana, and bribery of a public official in the Western District of Texas El Paso Division. Carrillo absconded on his bond prior to being sentenced and a warrant was issued for his arrest on May 31st, 1994.

In December of 2006, the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and the El Paso Police Department's Westside TAC Unit began conducting surveillance of several addresses on the Westside of El Paso. On December 22, 2006, after having gathered sufficient information, the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and members of the El Paso Police Department's Westside Regional Command Center made contact at an address and Carrillo was taken into custody without incident.

On December 23rd, 2006, Carrillo was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center.
