U.S. Marshals Arrest Former Federal Agent who was a fugitive
since 1994
El Paso, TX - United States Marshal for the Western District
of Texas, LaFayette Collins announced the capture of Jose Trinida
Carrillo. The former Federal law enforcement agent was captured by the
Lone Star Fugitive
Task Force, El Paso Division. He fled to Mexico after he was
convicted of Conspiracy to Import Marijuana and Bribery of Public
Official in 1994. The El Paso Police Department was
instrumental in isolating the fugitive's location.
In July of 1993, Carrillo was arrested by federal agents. Early in
1994 Carrillo was convicted of conspiracy to import marijuana, aiding
and abetting to import marijuana, and bribery of a public official
in the Western District of Texas El Paso Division. Carrillo
absconded on his bond prior to being sentenced and a warrant was
issued for his arrest on May 31st, 1994.
In December of 2006, the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and the El
Paso Police Department's Westside TAC Unit began conducting
surveillance of several addresses on the Westside of El Paso. On
December 22, 2006, after having gathered sufficient information, the
Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and members of the El Paso Police
Department's Westside Regional Command Center made contact at an
address and Carrillo was taken into custody without incident.
On December 23rd, 2006, Carrillo was booked into the El Paso County
Detention Center.
