Mexico Fugitive Wanted for Murder
Arrested by Police |

Phoenix, AZ – The United States Marshals Service (USMS) High
Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force, Immigration and
Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office
arrested homicide suspect Adan Aguayo-Reyes last night in Maricopa,
AZ. Mexican officials believe Aguayo-Reyes murdered two individuals
in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico.
Aguayo-Reyes was apprehended on a dirt road off of Highway 347,
north of Maricopa, after leading Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputies on
a high speed chase that reached 110 mph. Aguayo-Reyes lost control
and flipped his vehicle. After a brief foot chase, Sheriff’s
Deputies were forced to use their Taser’s to subdue him.
The investigation into the whereabouts of Aguayo-Reyes began on
Wednesday, when U.S. Marshals and I.C.E. agents pulled up to find
the fugitive strangling his wife near a melon field in Stanfield,
AZ, a town located just south of Maricopa. As police exited their
vehicles, Aguayo-Reyes jumped into his vehicle and fled. Police were
unable to pursue the fugitive because of his dangerous driving.
After days of surveillance and interviews, officials caught up to
Aguayo-Reyes last night returning from Phoenix when the chase began.
Aguayo-Reyes has an extensive criminal history involving: Domestic
Violence, Assault, Narcotic Violations and DUI. He has been deported
on two occasions, but returned to the U.S. thereafter. Aguayo-Reyes
has resisted arrest each time Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputies have
attempted to arrest him in the past. His wife and children were
living with friends after Aguayo-Reyes threatened to kill them.
United States Marshal David Gonzales praised the work of task force
members, “This type of coordination between the U.S. Marshals, I.C.E,
Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and Mexican officials proves to be an
effective tool in locating Mexican fugitives who decide to make the
United States their hideout. Aguayo-Reyes is the type of violent,
dangerous criminal who needed to be located and arrested quickly.”
The United States HIDTA Task Force consists of deputies and officers
from the U.S. Marshals, Department of Public Safety, Mesa P.D.,
Maricopa County Probation Office, Phoenix P.D., Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, U.S. Postal Inspector Service and
Chandler P.D.
