Arrest of Suspected Child Killer
Robert Capps On September 7, 2007, members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force
responded to an exigent request from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force regarding
Robert Capps, a suspected child killer. In August, Capps brutally beat his
6-month old stepson and 2-year old step daughter. The infant later died as a
result of the trauma. Realizing the inevitable, Capps fled W/TX.
The Leon County, TX Sheriff’s Office immediately issued multiple warrants for
Capps’ arrest and forwarded the case to the LSFTF of which they are a member.
Within hours, investigators from both Task Forces had developed credible
information regarding Capps’ location. After several hours of surveillance,
Capps was arrested at a home in Conroe, TX without incident.
