LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ARRESTS FUGITIVE CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoSan Antonio – The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) arrested Joshua Owen late Monday evening after receiving information from the Dallas/Fort Worth-Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW-FAST) that Owen may be hiding out in San Antonio.

Joshua Owen was charged in Fort Worth Texas back on March 8, 2007 with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Owen is accused of beating a former girlfriend with a handgun, sticking the handgun in her mouth and busting at least one of her teeth with the gun. It is alleged that he made her strip naked while he did this. Since that time authorities in the Fort Worth area have hunted for Owen. On Monday, July 2, 2007, information was developed by DFW-FAST that led them to believe Owen may be staying in a motel near the San Antonio Airport and may possibly be waiting to catch a flight out of Texas. DFW-FAST contacted LSFTF with this information. LSFTF members began to canvass the motels surrounding the San Antonio Airport early Monday evening and found Owen registered at the Super 8 Motel just south of Nakoma near I-281. Owen was not in his room at this time so LSFTF members set up surveillance to await Owen’s return. At approximately 10:00 p.m. Owen arrived back at his room and task force members moved in and arrested Owen without incident. Owen now awaits extradition back to Fort Worth.

The United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “If all of these charges are true, then this man deserves all the punishment the courts may give him. Hopefully the victim in this crime will rest easier tonight knowing the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force made the arrest of this man a top priority.”
