THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ARRESTS ARRON EASON

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoWaco - On June 7, 2007, members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested sex offender Arron Eason for failing to register as a sex offender, a violation of the Adam Walsh Act. Eason was originally arrested in Hope, Arkansas, in 1998 for molesting a minor. He was sentenced to three years incarceration and was required to register as a sex offender upon release. On June 4, 2007, it was discovered that Eason had been in the Waco, Texas, area since November 2006. It was further determined that he was a student at the Texas State Technical College in Waco, where he was pursuing a degree in computer technology. Eason was also listed as an absconded sex offender in the state of Arkansas. Upon confirmation of the above information, a federal arrest warrant for a violation of the Adam Walsh Act was issued, and Eason was arrested.

The Adam Walsh Act makes it a federal crime for sex offenders who fail to register and cross state lines. The Act is named after the slain son of America’s Most Wanted host, John Walsh. The United States Marshals Service is the lead investigative agency in all Adam Walsh Act cases.

United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “This arrest is another message to sex offenders who believe they can hide by failing to register. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force stands ready to track down any sex offender who tries to hide.”
