THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ARRESTS SHANE KERNER

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoOn Friday evening, the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, led by the United States Marshals Service in the Western District of Texas, arrested Shane Kerner. Kerner not only fled the hurricane, but also a felony warrant for his arrest when he relocated to the San Antonio area. Kerner, a Katrina refugee, was wanted for Attempted Murder out of Jefferson Parrish, Louisiana.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force had been notified by member agency Olmos Park Police Department that Kerner was living in 3700 block of Candle Bluff Drive, San Antonio, Texas. Task Force Members arrested Kerner who claimed that he did not commit the crime, but instead stated his twin brother had been the one who was guilty of attempted murder. Investigators from Jefferson Parrish had explained to the Task Force that Kerner’s claim was impossible due to the fact his twin brother was incarcerated at the time of the crime. Shane Kerner and his twin brother Shawn Kerner have matching tattoos on their neck reading “Shane”…”Shawn.”

Shane Kerner was transported to the Bexar County Jail where he awaits extradition back to Jefferson Parrish.

United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and its member agencies are happy to help track down those felons that relocated to Texas after Katrina."

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force member agencies assisting in the arrest:
Bexar County Sheriffs Office, Comal County Sheriffs Office, Olmos Park Police Department, San Antonio Independent School District Police and the United States Marshals Service.
