THE LONE STAR FUGITIVE TASK FORCE ANNOUNCES THE ARREST OF JUAN GUZMAN

Lone Star Fugitive Task Force LogoSan Antonio – San Antonio Police Department’s Repeat Offenders (ROP) Unit received a frantic telephone call from a woman late last Friday stating that her ex-husband from Fort Worth, Juan Guzman, was threatening to come back to San Antonio and kill her. ROP Investigators quickly notified the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force of Guzman’s threats and to the fact that he was wanted on five outstanding warrants ranging from domestic violence to illegal drugs. ROP detectives then provided a level of protection to the target/victim while the hunt began.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, led by the United States Marshals Service in the Western District of Texas, joined by SAPD ROP Investigators, quickly began searching for Guzman. They were able to locate a family owned embroidery shop in the Fort Worth area. The Fort Worth division of the Dallas/Fort Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW-FAST), led by the United States Marshals Service in the Northern District of Texas was contacted for additional assistance.

Investigators with DFW-FAST established surveillance on several locations in Fort Worth throughout the weekend to include the family owned business. Monday, Guzman was spotted driving a vehicle near the business and stopped by investigators. Initially Guzman stated he was his brother, but when DFW-FAST Investigators confronted Guzman with a United States Marshals Service Wanted Poster with his picture, he recanted and admitted to his identity.

Guzman is currently awaiting extradition back to Bexar County and may be facing additional charges stemming from his most recent threats.

United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas LaFayette Collins said, “The quick action and outstanding teamwork by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and the San Antonio Police Department ROP squad prevented a potential tragedy."
