On March 12, 2014, Gary Blankinship was sworn-in as United States Marshal for the Southern District of Texas. Marshal Blankinship, a former TOP COPS Award winner and Area Vice President of National Association of Police Organizations, has served in law enforcement for over 35 years. He was employed by the Houston Police Department (HPD) from 1982-2012, where he worked in the position of Senior Police Officer.

Prior to his service with HPD, Marshal Blankinship was employed by the Harris County Sheriff's Department. He also founded the Assist the Officer Foundation following the death of his HPD partner to provide short-term immediate financial assistance for police officers critically injured or disabled in the line of duty.

Everyone in the Southern District of Texas is pleased to have Marshal Blankinship, his leadership exemplify the mission of the United States Marshals Service. We are proud!!!
