DALLAS, TEXAS MURDER SUSPECT ARRESTED
IN NEW ORLEANS |
|
|
Dallas, TX - On the morning of
January 13, 2007, the Eastern District of Louisiana (EDLA) U.S.
Marshals Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force (CSFTF) arrested Donald
Greenup, 25 years old, on Washington Ave. New Orleans, Louisiana at
his place of employment without incident. He was wanted on a warrant
issued January 12, 2007, out of Dallas County, Texas charging him
with capital murder/capital felony.
Greenup, a New Orleans, Louisiana native, is alleged to have
committed the December 04, 2006, murder of Naymond Glover, 30 years
old, along with and accomplice, Patrick McBride, 27 years old.
McBride is also a New Orleans native. The affidavit for the warrant
states that the murder took place during the course of an aggravated
robbery in a business parking lot on Hatcher St. Dallas, Texas.
Authorities believe that all three were there for a drug transaction
and during the course of an argument Greenup shot Glover with a
handgun one time in the upper chest. Greenup has a prior felony
conviction.
The Dallas, Texas Police Department began an investigation of the
Glover murder and developed Greenup and Mcbride as the suspects.
Dallas Police Department detectives contacted the U.S. Marshals
office in Dallas, Texas for assistance in locating both suspects.
The Dallas Ft. Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (DFW FAST)
sent CSFTF a request to assist in locating both. CSFTF missed
McBride at a FEMA trailer park in Convent, Louisiana the week prior
to Christmas. The Middle District of Louisiana U.S. Marshals office
arrested him in Baton Rouge last week. Investigators believe that
Greenup left the Dallas area and returned to New Orleans, where his
family was living on Freret St. He gained employment in New Orleans
about a week ago.
The U.S. Attorney General recently committed additional resources to
the New Orleans metro area several months ago. With added out of
district Deputy U.S. Marshals provided by the Department of Justice,
CSFTF has been able to assist the New Orleans Police Department by
providing additional manpower for their warrant squad. This week
CSFTF cleared 17 felony warrants. CSFTF is sponsored by the EDLA
U.S. Marshals office and includes law enforcement officers from the
New Orleans Police Department, Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s
Office, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Probation and
Parole, Bogalusa Police Department, and U.S. Coast Guard
Investigative Services.
