U.S. Marshal John L. Moore
John L. Moore was appointed the United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Texas on May 6, 2002.  Prior to his appointment, Marshal Moore served for 20 years as a Deputy United States Marshal assigned to the Dallas, Sherman, and Tyler Divisions of the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas.  Marshal Moore has over 30 years experience in law enforcement to include service with the Anton, Littlefield, Plainview, and Amarillo Texas Police Departments as a patrol officer and criminal investigator.  He also served as a Deputy Sheriff with Potter County Sheriff's Department, and as a State Trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

In 1969 Marshal Moore enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in combat with the Long Range Reconnaissance Teams of the 173rd Airborne Brigade in the Republic of South Viet Nam.  He is currently the State Provost Marshal for the Texas State Guard headquartered at Camp Mabry, Austin, TX, with the rank of Lt. Colonel.

Marshal Moore holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminology from Amarillo College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Wayland Baptist College, and an advanced peace officers license from the State of Texas.  He is a member of the Texas Sheriffs' Association, the Texas National Guard Association, the Texas and Southwest Cattle Association, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Center, and a member of the United States Marshals Service Museum Committee.

Marshal Moore resides in Grayson County, Texas with his wife Karon, daughter Brigette, son-in-law Michael, and four grandsons where they enjoy raising horses.
