Western District of TennesseeNewsApril 15, 2013 - Yesterday the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, in conjunction with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, the Lauderdale Sheriff’s Office and the Ripley Police Department, was able to locate and arrest Attempted First Degree Murder suspect Darius Mitchell. April 04, 2013 - A Memphis murder suspect was arrested after allegedly firing a handgun at law enforcement. Daniel Nesbitt has been on the run since August 2012, when he was named as a suspect in the home invasion style murder of Jenario Taylor. April 01, 2013 - A man alleged to have represented himself falsely as a deputy U.S. marshal was arrested today by the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force. Averick Nickson was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury for falsely assuming the identity of a deputy U.S. marshal. March 21, 2013 - Thanks to the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, first degree murder suspect Keith Brown will face justice today. It is alleged that Keith Brown walked up Marquez Thomas, shook his hand, and ended his life with four gunshots. A warrant was issued for him on 6-27-2006 and he had been a fugitive from justice since that date. March 19, 2013 - It is over four hundred miles from Memphis, TN to Lexington, KY, but for federal prison escapee Travis Ware it wasn’t far enough. Ware was arrested by the Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force in Lexington, this morning. Ware had been on the run since Sunday, March 10 when he came up missing from the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Millington, TN. January 10, 2013 - The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Travis Weaver today. Weaver, a suspect in a violent crime, was wanted for especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. He was implicated in a Dec. 1, 2012 crime where a male victim was allegedly removed from his car at gunpoint and robbed by two suspects. November 28, 2012 - The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force tracked a known gang member and suspected bank robber to his sister’s home and arrested him today without incident. Kevin McKinley, dubbed by FBI agents in California as the “Haggler Bandit,” is a suspect in five bank robberies that occurred during the week of Aug. 26, 2012, in the cities of Los Angles, Monrovia and Pasadena, Calif. July 07, 2010 - The U.S. Marshals Mid-South Fugitive Task arrested Cameron Braswell at the Studio 6 Motel in Memphis, TN. Braswell was wanted for Federal charges of Possession of Firearm by a convicted felon, Possession with Intent to distribute a Controlled Substance and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office warrant for Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Official Detention, Escape from Incarceration, Disorderly Conduct. May 6, 2010 - The U.S. Marshals Mid-South Fugitive Task Force arrested Antwan Melvin (24) in a North Memphis home. Melvin, a documented member of the “Vice Lords” street gang and was wanted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on numerous felony charges. Melvin was wanted for three counts of Aggravated Robbery, four counts Criminal-Attempt Aggravated Robbery, three counts of Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, four counts Aggravated Assault, one count Aggravated Burglary, one count of Intentionally Evading Arrest in Auto with Risk of Death and Theft of Property $1000 to $10,000. Melvin was transported to the Shelby County Jail and is being held on a one billion dollar bond. April 15, 2010 - This morning U.S. Marshals Mid-South Fugitive Task delivered a birthday surprise when they arrested Tiffany Upkins (30) on charges of Theft by receiving and Fraudulent use of a Credit Card which occurred in Arkansas. Upkins’ charges stemmed from offenses she allegedly committed while on a three month nationwide crime spree with Cassandra Henry also known as the “Big Mamma Bandit.” Herny and husband Corry were arrested in Claremont, CA last week for robbing the elderly in the Mid-South region. Upkins remained on the run until today when MSFTF arrested her at the Starlight Motel. Today is Upkins’ 30th Birthday. When U.S. Marshals arrested Upkins she stated, “I just wanted to stay out and celebrate my birthday.” Upkins was transported to the Jail East where she will await extradition back to Arkansas. April 8, 2010 - Cassandra Henry and husband Corry Henry were arrested in Claremont, CA by Claremont Police Department. Corry Henry was wanted for violating his Federal Supervised Release. Cassandra Henry was wanted for numerous violent felony acts against the elderly. Acting on information provided by U.S. Marshals Mid-South Fugitive Task Force both were taken into custody without incident. March 1, 2010 - In 2009, the U.S. Marshals Mid-South Fugitive Task Force makes a record number of arrests for the year. According to 2009 fugitive performance measures reports the Task Force arrested 301 fugitives and cleared 400 warrants, 30 of which were Homicide fugitives. All warrants cleared were violent felony warrants. The Task Force has increased in size, with the addition of West Memphis Police Department. The Task Force is on pace of having another record setting year for 2010. February 10, 2010 - Today, the U.S. Marshals Mid-South Fugitive Task Force arrested Shaun Murphy (28) for Federal Pre-Trial release Violation. Murphy’s original charge was Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Counterfeiting. During the arrest, Task Force members seized approximately $560.00 of counterfeit U.S. currency. Murphy was arrested in the Jamesbridge Apartment complex in North Memphis without incident, and transported the U.S. Marshals Cellblock. |
