Burton Stallwood was appointed by President George W. Bush to the
position of United States Marshal for the District of Rhode Island.
As the U.S. Marshals, he is responsible
for leading the district's employees in meeting the goals and objectives
of the agency. The U.S. Marshals are responsible for the security of the federal judiciary and courthouses, transportation and production of prisoners, apprehension of federal fugitives, execution of civil and criminal process, the asset seizure program, and other duties as directed by the Attorney General. Prior to joining the U.S. Marshals, Mr. Stallwood was the Town Administrator in Lincoln, RI from 1973 to 2001. Marshal Stallwood is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University, and of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University in 1981. From 1960 to 1964 Marshal Stallwood served with the United States Air Force.
