U.S. Marshals Arrest Puerto
Rico Police Top Ten Fugitive
San Juan, Puerto Rico - United
States Marshal Herman Wirshing, the Puerto Rico Police Department and its
Extradition Division, announce the arrest of David Caban-Rodriguez aka
“El De Arenales.” Caban-Rodrigez is wanted by the Puerto Rico Police
Department, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Marshals Service on
charges of Attempted Murder, Weapons Law Violations, Home Invasions,
Carjacking and other crimes and has been a fugitive since 2001.
Recently, information developed through the investigation and corroborated
by the Puerto Rico Fugitive Task Force (PRFTF) and the PR Police Extradition
Division dictated that David Caban-Rodriguez, aka "El De Arenales," could be
residing in the state of Massachusetts, specifically the city of Dorchester.
The information gathered indicated that Caban-Rodriguez was residing at 41
Longfellow Street, Basement Apartment in the city of Dorchester, MA.
On Monday, December 11, 2006, surveillance was established in the area, a
high crime infested neighborhood, with negative results. It was decided that
on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 a ruse would be conducted in order to gain
access into the building and try and locate Caban-Rodriguez.
Today, in the early morning hours, at approximately 6:11 am, members of the
Massachusetts High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force lead
by the U.S. Marshals Service, the Worcester PD and the Boston PD proceeded
to above-mentioned residence and located Caban-Rodriguez. While conducting
the arrest fugitive Caban-Rodriguez decided to try and make a run for the
door but was immediately subdued and arrested without any additional
incident.
Subject will be charged as a Fugitive from Justice in local court and housed
at the Suffolk County Jail in Boston, Massachusetts pending extradition to
the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Since 1997, the Puerto Rico Fugitive Task Force (PRFTF), a HIDTA Initiative,
comprises agents from the Puerto Rico Police Department, the Puerto Rico
Corrections Department, the Puerto Rico State Marshals, Special
Investigations Bureau and United States Marshals. Since its creation this
Task Force claims the arrest of more than 1,300 violent offenders. |
