Man Suspected of Robbing Baton Rouge Pharmacies Arrested

Alexandria - A violent fugitive wanted in connection with several armed robberies in Baton Rouge was arrested last night by U.S. Marshals in Alexandria.

The Baton Rouge based Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force led the investigation to find Alvin Washington III, 22, after he was identified by the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) as the main suspect in the armed robberies of four pharmacies last month. Investigators here developed information that Washington was in the Alexandria area hiding out with family members. Task Force investigators contacted Alexandria authorities and requested their assistance. Washington was spotted driving a vehicle in an Alexandria neighborhood and was taken into custody without incident. Washington has been arrested several times for narcotics and weapons violations. Detectives from BRPD traveled to Alexandria last night to bring Washington back to Baton Rouge.

“We’re sending out the message that if you commit crimes in our communities, we will find you and put you in jail; where ever you try to hide,” said Task Force Coordinator Randy Breckwoldt.

The Middle Louisiana Fugitive Task Force, coordinated by the U.S. Marshals Service, is a multi-agency task force that targets persons wanted for violent crimes, narcotic offenses, and sexual offenders in the Capitol area and surrounding Parishes. Contributing agencies are the Baton Rouge Police Department, the East and West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Offices, the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, and the Louisiana State Probation and Parole.
