U.S. MARSHALS CRESCENT STAR FUGITIVE TASK
FORCE NABS THREE MORE FUGITIVES DURING HOLIDAY WARRANT SWEEP
On December 19, 2006,
the Eastern District of Louisiana Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force
(CSFTF) arrested three fugitives in different parts of New Orleans
on unrelated cases. Thomas Ginn, 27 years old, was arrested in the
700 block of Pelican St. New Orleans, Louisiana on a federal
indictment / warrant out of District of Montana, Missoula Division,
charging him receipt and possession of child pornography. Hector
Castillo, 32 years old, was arrested in the 900 block of North
Carrollton Ave. in New Orleans. Castillo was wanted for failure to
appear on an attempted murder charge warrant issued by the Elizabeth
County Sheriff’s Office in New Jersey. James Davis,17 years old, was
also arrested by the New Orleans Police Department with the
assistance of CSFTF on a murder and two counts of attempted murder
warrant out of New Orleans.
The federal indictment / warrant on Ginn was issued on November 21,
2005. Ginn, who is from Phoenix, AZ, was living in Montana at that
time. He moved to New Orleans about a year ago and was working in
the city. The U.S. Marshals District of Montana began a fugitive
investigation and determined that Ginn was in the New Orleans area.
CSFTF received a request from the Montana office to investigate. He
was arrested without incident.
Castillo is alleged to have stabbed a female during a botched
attempted purse snatching on June 27, 2004, in Plainfield, New
Jersey. The female was stabbed multiple times in the hand, arm,
chest, and back after refusing to relinquish her purse. Castillo,
who was arrested near the scene of the stabbing, later bonded from
jail and disappeared from New Jersey. He has been on the run since
2004. The U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task
Force developed information that he was in the New Orleans area and
CSFTF was contacted to investigate the fugitive collateral lead.
Castillo was employed doing drywall work related to Hurricane
Katrina rebuilding efforts. He was also arrested without incident.
James Davis, who was wanted by the New Orleans Police Department on
a warrant charging him with murder and two counts of attempted
murder, was arrested in the 2100 block of LaSalle St. by the New
Orleans Police Violent Offenders Warrant Squad (VOWS) with
assistance from the CSFTF. The murder of Glenn Webb occurred on
November 25, 2006, in the 1700 block of Monroe St. New Orleans.
Davis was also arrested without incident. |
