The Eastern District of
Louisiana Courthouse is located at 500 Poydras Street,
between Camp Street and Magazine Streets in New Orleans,
Louisiana. There are two public entrances to the
courthouse. Entry can be achieved via Poydras Street or
Lafayette Street. All persons having business in the
Courthouse you must possess a valid State or Government
issued photo identification card and pass established
security screening procedures. While not an exhaustive
list, the following items are prohibited from being
brought into the courthouse:
- Guns
- Knives
- Weapons of any kind
- Nail clippers
- Tape recorders or
any other recording device
- Cameras, camcorders,
or any other video recording device
- Pets (ADA authorized
are allowed)
There is no parking on
the streets immediately surrounding the courthouse, but
there are paid parking meters (2 hour maximum) on the
streets, in the vicinity of the courthouse and
commercial parking facilities are also nearby.
The courthouse is located
in the Central Business District and easily accessible
from several highway exits. It is very close to the bus
stops on Magazine, Poydras and Tchoupitoulas Streets,
the Algiers Ferry and to the St. Charles Streetcar line.
