Marshal
Denney retired from the Delaware State Police with the rank of Major
(Director of Operations) in 1978. Previous service included the U.S.
Army (1954-1956) and the FBI (1957).
Marshal Denney served as Asst. Secretary of the State of Delaware
from 1977-1981 at which time he became U.S. Marshal for the District of
Delaware. As such, he was the first appointment made by President
Reagan. His tenure incorporated thirteen years of service under
Presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton. Marshal Denney chaired several
national level committees and advisory boards including the Service's
first Merit Promotion Panel. A fitness advocate, Denney was involved in
the initiation of the Service's Fitness-in-total program. Marshal Denney
is a member of numerous service and fraternal organizations including
charter membership in the Delaware Police Chiefs Council and serves as a
trustee for the Police Chiefs foundation. |
