Harrison County Fugitive Arrested in Mannington

Clarksburg, WV – A Mannington man who was wanted in Harrison County has been arrested in Mannington, WV.

Jason Lee Barr, 50, was arrested today at approximately 3:00 p.m. at a residence on Highland Street. Barr was wanted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office for being a prohibited person in possession of a concealed firearm. Barr was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Mountain State Fugitive Task Force with assistance from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police.

Barr and another man are alleged to have unlawfully possessed firearms during a traffic stop on Interstate 79 near Saltwell Road on March 8, 2023. During the traffic stop, two firearms and methamphetamine were recovered from the vehicle. The charges against the men were filed on October 2, 2023, following laboratory confirmations.

The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force was requested to assist in locating Barr after Deputy US Marshals received a tip on his whereabouts. Through coordinated efforts with the Mannington Police Department, Barr’s location was positively identified. During the arrest, Barr attempted to hide under a camping trailer located at the residence. After he was located, he was arrested without further incident. Barr will be lodged at the North Central Regional Jail pending his court appearance.
